GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Flintridge Sacred Heart is celebrating 90 years with a Soiree to Remember Gala on May 7, 2022, at the Langham, Huntington in Pasadena. Sisters Carolyn and Celeste, as well as Matthew Lillard, a current parent, actor, and producer will be speaking at the event. Over the years Flintridge Sacred Heart has achieved major milestones, such as opening the school to day students in 1952, constructing beautiful additions to campus (the Student Activity Center and science labs in 2000 and the Mozilo Family Center for the Arts in 2020), and adding the senior academic research program in 2013. Tickets to the 5:00 p.m. special reception are $350. Tickets to the 5:30 p.m. cocktail hour and silent auction are $300. Both can be purchased at www.fsha.org/gala45.
At the 2022 Alumnae Reunion Flintridge honored Carla Suarez-Capdet class of 1998 posthumously with the Distinguished Alumna Award for Service to the Community. Carla dedicated her life to helping others, especially children who could not advocate for themselves. She worked closely with Speak UP, an organization of parents advocating for equitable public education, and was recognized with the Parent of the Year Award in 2021. In her honor, the Speak UP Special Education Task Force created Carla’s Way: A Mentorship Network for Families of Exceptional Kids to carry on Carla’s mission through a network of professional educators and volunteers. Carla passed away in June 2021 leaving behind her husband and three sons. Carla was nominated for this Distinguished Alumna Award by her peers and was selected by the Alumnae Association Board. On April 23, Jenn Strople Mora, also class of 1998, accepted the award on her behalf. Carla’s parents, Cesar and Rosa, and brother, Mario, were also in attendance. Flintridge Sacred Heart's Alumnae Association also honored others at the Alumnae Reunion Day on April 23, 2022.
