The insights of Henri Nouwen have shown millions of people how to choose joy in any moment — even moments full of pain. Few spiritual writers have ever spoken so powerfully and directly to the heart as he did, because he compassionately bared his own soul and struggles to his readers, and because he deeply understood that God can be discovered in every aspect of ourselves, even in the parts we find difficult to acknowledge.
This is Henri Nouwen's own personal favorite book and is based on his reflections on the Rembrandt painting The Return of the Prodigal Son, which is in St. Petersburg, Russia. Describing the painting as that of "father and son, God and humanity, compassion and misery, in one circle of love," Nouwen wrote that "the painting has become for me a mysterious window though which I can step into the Kingdom of God."
Facilitators are Sister Ingrid Clemmensen, O.P. and Mary Ellen Parker. All meetings are from 1 to 2:30PM. An offering of $10 per session is suggested.
The book is available wherever books are sold.
