Home > Our Ministry > Care of Creation
We seek to grow in responsibility and oneness with creation by developing common areas of study of creation; providing a forum for discussing areas in our lives that need to change in order to be more ecologically minded; developing ways to evaluate our actions on a regular basis; spearheading proactive stewardship of our lands; and keeping connected with governmental issues on local, national and international levels. We are working to conserve the lands entrusted to us for future generations and protect the flora and fauna that inhabit them from intrusion and exploitation.
"Many animals from fish to bees and ants cannot survive alone. They need to live in groups, and these groups have a kind of collective intelligence or hive mind that bears a striking resemblance to the internet dynamic. This public radio report on To The Best of Our Knowledge, teaches about the new science of complexity and the inner workings of the hive mind."
Trusting in God’s providence and moved by the spirit of Jesus, we seek to be in solidarity with the poor through a simple communal lifestyle marked by action on behalf of justice, responsible use of our resources and respectful care of the Earth. We believe that we are one with the universe and all of creation is imbued with the love and presence of God. We commit ourselves personally and congregationally to a lifestyle that models sustainable practices. We live our vows not only for God and humanity but for the entire community of Earth.
