Home > Our Life > Profession of Vows
Temporary profession is a time of growth as a vowed religious. It fosters further integration of the various aspects of Dominican life and serves as a confirmation, for both the community and the individual, that the Sister is genuinely called to religious life in our Congregation.
During this period the Sister sets personal goals and meets regularly with the Director of Temporary Professed to assess her personal growth in community, prayer, ministry and study. She gathers regularly with other Sisters in Temporary Profession to share stories and forge relationships for the future. The period of Temporary Profession typically lasts five years.
At Final Profession the Sister vows poverty, chastity and obedience to God, to our Holy Father Saint Dominic, to our Congregational Prioress and her successors according to the Rule of Saint Augustine and the Constitutions of our Congregation until death.
