To be a Dominican Sister of Mission San Jose is to be committed to community both in shared living and in ministry. To live in community is to be open to the gift and challenge of daily living with women of diverse cultures, ages, ideas, and needs. Because of the diverse composition of our Congregation, multicultural understanding and international exchange are part of our historical and lived reality. This diversity enriches our lives and broadens our horizons. Solidarity and generativity are two values that govern our relationships across generations.
As Dominic before us, we live our lives in freedom and joy, integrity and charity, truth and humility. To live in community is to be committed to ongoing dialogue with each other, to allow our personal vision to shape and be shaped by the vision of the Congregation. In community we experience strength, energy, and hope that is far greater than what each of us possesses individually.
Our community life is shaped by daily liturgical prayer, whole-hearted involvement in our ministry, love for celebration, and joy in coming together. Community is the context for the lived reality of our Dominican life. Here we are strengthened by prayer, supported through our relationships with one another and energized for ministry. Sharing our life, supporting one another through the challenges and rewards of ministry, journeying together through all the seasons of our life--this is the fabric of Dominican life.
